Will AMD's RV790 GPU be called Radeon HD 4900?
There are still a lot of rumors about AMD's new GPUs. Now talk is about Radeon HD 4900 graphics cards with RV790 GPU.
Yesterday we were reported that the Radeon HD 4890 is supposed be an update of the RV 770 only and today the launch of the expected RV790 GPU seems to move closer. At the PCI-SIG (PCI Special Interest Group) AMD pleaded for a PCI Express certification; the same was done for the M97 - a mobile version of the RV740 -, the Firepro 3D V8700 and the V7750 for the professional coverage.
On April 8 the RV790 shall be unveiled; final cards are supposedly not called Radeon HD 4890 but AMD is supposed to introduce the model series Radeon HD 4900. That was reported by GPUCafé, while Tech Connect assumes that the prices for the cards with RV790 GPU will be around 200 US dollar. Specifications of the RV790 graphics cards are still unknown but GDDR5 RAM and a dual slot cooler are likely to be used.
