Nvidia wants to switch to 28 nanometer structure as soon as possible
Currently Nvidia is giving quite positive predictions. Until the end of the year many 40 nanometer products are supposed to be offered and in early 2010 the first 28 nanometer products are supposed to be ready.
Nvidia will introduce the first 40 nanometer products soon - for the mobile sector initially. Until late 2009 20 to 30 percent of all Nvidia GPUs are supposed to be based on the smaller structure says Nvidia boss Jen-Hsun Huang.
After the mobile 40 nm chips at the end of 2009 the 55 nanometer desktop CPUs are supposed to be replaced by new products. Nvidia's new high-end chip, the GT300 is already coming with a 40 nanometer structure, says a report at tdigitimes.com.
Furthermore Nvidia is said to plan a fast transition to 28 nanometer products and wants to place the according orders with TSMC in early 2010. But since Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company is already grappling with the 40 nanometer orders, those reports have to be taken with a pinch of salt.
