Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang about Ion, Windows 7 and CUDA + Nvidia Babes
Nvidia's President Jen-Hsun Huang used the Computex as a platform to talk about CUDA, the Ion platform and Windows 7. Information about new GPUs has not been revealed though.
According to Nvidia more than 100 million CUDA compatible graphics cards have been shipped already and an increasing number of Universities is using the calculating power of the GPU to solve complex problems. Furthermore it is said that many multimedia applications benefit from CUDA, too. The slides of the presentation with the information about performance benefits that was held by CEO Jen-Hsun Huang can be found in the gallery below.
In the gaming sector physics effects calculated on the GPU would make new ways of interaction possible. It has also been said that the Ion platform would be able to display The Sims 3 smoothly in medium quality - the resolution has not been specified by Nvidia though. To demonstrate the difference between activated and deactivated GPU physics Nvidia used the game Terminator Salvation that has a lot of particle effects.
With Windows 7 the graphics performance of SLI combos is said to be increased even more and the support for GPU accelerated programs would be growing due to DirectX Compute.
In order to boost the sales of 3D Vision and to give gamers a feeling for 3D effects, Nvidia has produced a huge number of low-priced 3D glasses that simulate a stereoscopic vision with two differently colored lenses.
In the gallery below you can find pictures of new Ion based devices and the Nvidia Booth Babes.
