Besides a new Nvidia dual GPU card people also expect a new top class graphics card with a single 55 nanometer chip.
The new Geforce GTX 285 is said to have the same PCB size as the GTX 280 shown on the picture.
The size of the GTX 285 is said to match the size of the GTX 280 (267 millimeters). Also unchanged are the 1,024 MiByte big GDDR3 RAM and the 240 Shader ALUs. Although the final clock speeds have not been announced yet, an increase of about 10 percent compared to the GTX 280 is expected.
Noticeable changes are said to apply to the power consumption though. While Nvidia's current top dog needed up to 236 watt, the GTX 285 is supposed to use only 183 watt. Thus the second 8-pin power connector would be unnecessary. The GTX 285 is said to have two 6-pin connectors only.
Expreview expects the new card around January and assumes that AMD's answer represented by a GPU called RV775XT won't be far behind.
