Nvidia wants to counter the HD 4850 with the Geforce 9800 GTX+
Today AMD surprisingly cleared benchmark results of the HD 4850 for publishing. Nvidia answered at once: there will be a Geforce 9800 GTX with increased clock speeds.
The new Geforce 9800 GTX+ will have an effect onto the pricing structure: die "old” GTX 9800 drops to 199 US-Dollar, the 9800 GTX+ will be sold for 229 US-Dollar. Additionally the clock speeds will be increased: 738 Megahertz core clock and 1,836 Megahertz shader clock.
Also new is the support for Nvidia's Physx (with a new, yet to be released driver) and CUDA support for Folding@Home on the GPU. The 3-way SLI support is still available of course.
Nvidia nevertheless did not give an official release date.
