New wonder driver is said to boost the 9800 GTX fps ratio
Fudzilla.com reports, that Nvidia is working on a new driver for the Geforce 9800 GTX, which is said to improve the performance.
Details are unknown, but Fudzilla thinks the driver is intended to sharpen up the Geforce 9800 GTX for the comparison with AMD's Radeon HD 4850, which is supposed to be released soon. The driver is said to be internally referred to as 9800GTX+.
Furthermore Fudzilla presumes, that Nvidia withheld performance capabilities intentionally, in order to use them later on - at a time when competitions gets to strong. Those accusations are rather unlikely to be true. There is no real reason for Nvidia to cut the performance of their own graphics cards.
If such a "wonder” driver is actually released, an optimization is the more sensible possibility, since not only the hardware development is progressing but the driver development, too.
