Renaming and price cuts for Nvidia Geforce 9800 GTX+
With smaller production processes and simplified layouts Nvidia is currently refreshing the product array. In the course of that process, the Geforce 9800 GTX+ is adjusted to the new name scheme and the price is lower once more.
Several benchmarks that place the chip within striking distance to the GTX 260s prove that the G92 still doesn't have to be thrown on the scrap heap. Therefore Nvidia plans to reintroduce the 9800 GTX+ as Geforce GTS250 to the current product array. March 3 is said to be the launch date and Nvidia will lower the prices for board partners by additional $20.
Thus lower prices for the retail market are possible, since Nvidia wants to place the GTS250 against AMD's HD 4850. At VR-Zone rumors say that AMD will react to this and lower the prices for the HD 4850, too.
