Nvidia: Production start for 40 nm GPUs by end of second quarter
Nvidia still plans with the contract manufacturers TSMC and UMC. The quantities of the GT200b in 55 nm will be increased and the production of the 40 nm GPUs is scheduled for the end of Q2.
According to the Chinese Commercial Times Nvidia has scheduled the GPU production for the second quarter. The two contract manufacturers TSMC and UMC are still in charge for the production of the 55 nm GT200b whose production quantity will be increased.
The production of the 40 nm GPUs is scheduled between mid and end of Q2 2009. Among them is the GT218 (entry-level), the GT215 (high-end mobile) as well as the two mainstream GPUs GT214 and GT216. According to the report the information originates from an industry paper.
