Geforce GTX 260 Single Slot: First Hands-On [expreview.com]
Galaxy got quite a lot of attention when the first news about a Geforce GTX 260 with a single slot cooling solution was published. Now the first hands-on has been released.
The Galaxy Geforce GTX 260+ Razor edition is one of many GTX 260 graphics cards, but the cooling solution of this particular variant is something special: Due to a single slot solution the card doesn't block the next slot on the motherboard. The website expreview.com was able to get a test sample and just delivered the first hands-on.
The GPU has 216 Stream processors and is produced in 55 nanometer architecture. The frequencies have been set to 576/1242 MHz. The 896 MiByte GDDR 3 video memory are running at exactly one GHz. The power supply is handled by 4+1 phases.
The single slot cooling is said to be possible due to the Vapor Chamber Technology. This technique can be realized on minimal space but is strong enough to deal with the heat of the GTX 260. In Asia the card is said to become available for about 185 USD soon. Unfortunately it is unlikely that the card will be sold in Europe, too.
