Rumors: Radeon HD 4770 and 4750 on RV740 basis in May
AMD is supposed to release two new mainstream cards in May: The Ati Radeon HD 4750 and 4770 are based on the RV740 GPU for about 100 USD.
In May two new AMD mainstream cards called Ati Radeon HD 4750 and 4770 are supposed to hit the market. The cards are said to be based on the RV740 GPU and will be introduced four weeks after the RV790 based 55nm devices.
The two versions of the chips are said to be the RV740XT GPU (HD 477= and the RV740Pro GPU (4750). According to the rumors the HD 4770 will have 512 MiByte GDDR5 VRAM which is supposed to run at 800 MHz, while the HD 4750 will be equipped with 1,024 MiByte GDDR3. The core frequency of the two RV740 offspring is 700 Mhz. Power supply is said to be achieved with Triple Phase Power, which is supposed to have a higher efficiency, for the first time.
Prices have been brought up already, but haven't been confirmed yet: About 119 USD for the HD 4770 and 99 USD for the HD 4750. In May we will see if all this will happen as it has been reported at vr-zone.com.
