Radeon HD 4770 for AGP from Powercolor - Update
AGP is threatened with extinction, but Powercolor delivers a new Radeon HD 4770 for the old graphics slot.
Powercolor gives customers the chance to integrate the latest technology in their old AGP system. The possible field of application is big, but the market for AGP graphics cards itself isn't very big anymore.
Old systems with an AGP slot are boosted with 40 nanometer technology by Powercolor's Radeon HD 4770. Thus even outdated computers would be for example able to play high definition video material. Since Powercolor uses a bridge chip to make the native PCI-Express GPU compatible to the APG slot there can be incompatibility problems with motherboards. The remaining technical specifications match the default values of the HD 4770 reference design.
Update: May 14, 2009
Now Gene Chi, Marketing Manager at TUL came forward with the following statement: "Amazon made a mistake in posting AGP on our ATI Radeon HD 4770 graphics card. There is no AGP version."
So it really had been a mistake by the American online shop Amazon to offer the graphics card for the AGP port. The product page has been adjusted already.
