AMD released this month's Catalyst driver. Although version 8.8 comes with some new features, it is said to deliver no additional performance.
Catalyst 8.8: New driver version for Radeon cards
The Catalyst 8.8 WHQL is available for the 32 bit and 63 bit versions of Windows XP and Vista. The Media Center editions are supported, too. As usual you can download the driver from AMD or as a registered user from our servers.
As the release notes tell, the new driver delivers new features for Avivo. Furthermore, Hybrid Graphics can be activated in Windows XP and thus allows combining the IPG of a 780G/780D chipset with an HD 3400 or HD 2400 to receive better 3D performance. Problems with the games Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Unreal Tournament 3 and Mass Effect have been solved.
Because of the Games Convention we cannot deliver a full review before the next week.
