Windows 7: AMD offers the first WHQL driver for Ati Radeon cards
Only recently the Windows 7 Release Candidate has been made available to the public. For optimal hardware support drivers are required and AMD even offers the Catalyst 9.4 as an WHQL certified version for Windows 7.
Catalyst 9.4 WHQL for Windows 7 in 32 and 63 Bit: AMD was able to score first. The company is the first graphics card producer offering WHQL drivers for Windows 7. The Catalyst 9.4 with the internal serial number 8.600 had already been a unified driver that could be used for XP, Vista and Windows 7. But with version 8.612 AMD released a slightly newer version on May 5.
What effects the tiny increase in version numbers has on the performance, is still unclear since the Changelog has not been released yet. You can download the Catalyst WHQL driver from AMD's website. The driver supports Windows 7 in the 32 and 64 bit versions as well as all Ati Radeon graphics cards from the HD 2000 series and upwards. The brand-new Radeon HD 4770 is supported, too.
