GC 2008: Nvidia's Roy Taylor doesn't think DirectX 11 to be a rival to Physx
During a chat at the Games Convention Nvidia's Vice President of Content Relations was confident, that the Compute Shader of DirectX 11 would not be a competitor to Nvidia's Physx.

But in the same breath he said that he wouldn't have a problem if the developers would decide to implement Physx Solver via the Compute Shader in DirectX 11 and not via Nvidia's Physx API.
He said in general he would be happy about all kind of tasks that increase the GPU workload as much as possible. After all this is Nvidia's core business and therefore it is - no matter which application environment is at hand - good if gamers need a fast CPU as well as a fast GPU.
He actually doubts that DirectX 11 Compute Shader will be frequently used for things like Physx. The reason is simple: Most current developments are multi platform titles and therefore the developers would utilize the system, which is available for as many target groups as possible - Physx.
