On Monday Microsoft announced, that Sony's once exclusive PS3 title Final Fantasy 13 will be released for the Xbox 360, too.
The uproar from the Final Fantasy 13 fans was intense. The Playstation 3 was even called "Failstation”. Developer Square-Enix breaks a tradition indeed, but in the end the hubbub is senseless.
Sony announced, that "The game will first be released in Japan, and then the localization process will begin and the game will be developed for the Xbox 360.” Additionally both versions of the game will be simultaneously released in Europe and the USA. The bestseller series - Grand Tourismo - will be kept Sony exclusive nevertheless and thus Playstation 3 only. So almost everything stays as it is, although Sony earns more money with the Xbox 360 version of FF 13.
Final Fantasy 13 joins the rank of games that once savored exclusiveness and then became multi platform. That the benefit of such a decision is bigger than the alleged disadvantages, was recently proven by the GTA series.
