Fear 2: Project Origin - Widescreen check at WSGF
Fear 2: Project origin has been the most anxiously expected game in early 2009. Now that the game has been released, Monolith's title is checked for its widescreen support.
During our interview with John O'Rorke the Leading Software Engineer of Fear 2: Project Origin told us that the game is cross platform development. He also said that the performance provided by the PC would make it possible to scale up the resolution and effect quality above the limit of the consoles.
User scavvenjahh of the Widescreen Gaming Forum checked Fear 2: Project Origin for the supported resolutions and the realization of the aspect ratios. Although he used the demo version of the game, we confirmed his results with our retail version. As you can see in scavenjahh's Fear 2 thread at WSGF, Monolith integrated native support for the common 4:3, 16:10 and 16:9 resolutions. When you choose a different aspect ratio than 16:9 the game adjusts the displayed picture with letterboxes. Scavenjahh went even further and checked how the game realizes the resolution of 2,560 x 683 pixels which represents a 15:4 aspect ratio.
