40 years after Douglas C. Engelbart presented the computer mouse to the public for the first time, Logitech reached a milestone in the company's history: The market leader delivered one billion mice.
According to a survey Logitech is supposed to have sold another billion mice until 2014.
The company Logitech that had been founded in 1981 on a farm in Apples, Switzerland and came into close contact with Silicon Valley shortly after, introduced its first mouse to the market in 1985. In 1998 100 million devices had been sold and only seven years later Logitech had already reached the number of five hundred million mice. Today Logitech sells mice in more than 100 countries worldwide and produces on average about 376.000 units per day respectively 7.8 million per month.
If you line up one billion mice, they would cover a distance three times bigger than the perimeter of the Earth.
