Blizzcon: Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 without Direct X 10
Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 both are a big topic on the Blizzcon. PCGH wanted to know if the two games would be using Direct X 10.
DX10 in Diablo 3?
Now we wanted to know if Diablo 3 or Starcraft 2 would use the libraries of Direct X 10. After all, the API has been available for quite some time already. So our colleague Oliver Haake at Buffed asked Ray Gresko (Diablo 3) and Dustin Browder (Starcraft 2) if DX10 would be important. They both answered that Direct X 10 would generally be interesting, but currently it wouldn’t be an issue for the two games. They also didn’t want to give any statements about the use of Havok as physics engine.
Why the Blizzard programmers were so hesitant isn’t clear. But up to now no game could receive a noticeable benefit from DX10 support.
