Crysis 2: PC version with better graphics than PS3 and Xbox 360
Since Crysis 2 has been officially announced, there now are the first pieces of information about the graphics of the PC version in comparison to the visuals of PS3 and Xbox 360.
When Crytek announced that the forthcoming Cryengien 3 would be a multi platform development, PC fans had been very disappointed initially. It had been expected that the appropriate games based on the Cryengien 3 would look the same on PC and PS3 respectively Xbox 360. This would have been a step backwards for Crytek given the usually more powerful PC hardware - the Cryengien is regarded to be a figurehead for maximal graphics after all.
But it seems like all fears have been raised in vain. Crytek boss Cevat Yerli emphasized in several interviews at the E3 how important the PC would be. The Pc version of Crysis 2 would be superior to the console versions for PS3 and Xbox 360. It is not the goal that Crysis 2 looks the same on the PC and the consoles. The Crysis 2 team has a clear target: To create the most innovative and best looking shooter for the PC.
The differences between Crysis 2 on the PS3 and Xbox 360 are supposed to be irrelevant. Both versions will squeeze the best result out of the available hardware whereas the individual advantages of the console hardware will be utilized. The target is to offer the best graphics available for the PS3 and the Xbox 360.
