Hands-on: C&C3 Tiberium Wars - Kane's Wrath (incl. screenshot gallery)
Kane is alive! Nobody had any real doubts about that. We spend some time playing the latest Command & Conquer offspring: Kane's Wrath.
The add-on features several factions of the known GDI, NOD and Scrin, all of whom aim for their own goals. The GDI's factions are the Steel Talons and ZOCOM. The former use every technology regardless of the risks, while ZOCOM's members are veterans of war.
NOD contains the Black Hand and the Marked of Kane. Due to their religious intention the Black Hand abdicate all machines and cloaking techniques. The Marked of Kane are using EMP and special tiberium-based attacks to get rid of their enemies.
The Scrin also feature two factions: The Reaper-17 and the Traveler-59. The latter are relying on manipulation, infiltration and speed instead of shields to win any struggle. In contrary the Reaper-17 don't use mind control or aircrafts.
The technical aspect though is not very interesting, since the system requirements don't differ from those of Tiberium Wars. The Fps-Lock is still there limiting the displayed frames to 30 in the game and 50 in cut scenes. The graphical effects are mainly based on shader model 3 and good-looking but not jaw-dropping.
Fans of Command and Conquer or the strategy genre in general will be entertained but Kane's Wrath is still an add-on and nothing more.
