Intel cuts down up to 6,000 jobs and closes down three facilities.
Only recently Intel mentioned that loss in the first quarter is possible. As a result of the financial situation, the company now announced that in 2009 three facilities, two in Malaysia and one on the Philippines, will be closed and production will be put on hold in a fourth factory.
All in all up to 6,000 employees could be affected by these consolidation actions. But in the press release Intel also mentions that not all of the employees will lose their job but might be offered positions in other facilities.
