Lynnfield launch in mid-September possible plus details on Clarksfield
Intel's new Lynnfield are supposed to come in late September. Correspondent mobile spin-offs, codename Clarksfield, should follow in October.
The new desktop quad-cores from Intel, codename Lynnfield, are said to hit the markets in the second week of September.
As already reported the models with 2.66 GHz, 2.8 GHz and 2.93 GHz will be first. The two variants with 2.8 and 2.93 GHz will have the full feature set, including SMT and Turbo Mode - therefore they are regarded to be high-end devices and will be integrated into the Core i7 brand. The smallest model with 2.66 GHz won't have SMT, vPro or SIPP and TXT technology - thus it is supposed to become the first Core i5 (Mainstream). Apparently Intel has also decided on the prices: 196, 284 respectively 562 USD.
There also are some details of the mobile spin-offs which are going by the codename Clarksfield: Three models, all of which will become part of the Core i7 brand, with frequencies of 1.6 GHz, 1.73 GHz respectively 2.0 GHz and the full feature package are planned. The 2.0 GHz flagship is said to be an Extreme Edition with an unlocked multiplier - it will cost 1,054 USD while the smaller versions will be sold for 364 and 546 USD. According to the report at hkepc.com the three mobile variants are expected in late October at the latest.
