Intel's 65 Watt quad-cores on the way
Three new Intel quad-core CPUs are to be released on 18th January and will have a TDP of only 65 Watt.
Some time ago the CPUs were still called Core 2 Quad Q9550s, Q9400s and Q8200s. According to newer reports the Q9550s CPU is renamed as Q9550e. Concerning the power consumption these CPUs are the more efficient versions of the models Q9550, Q9400 and Q8200 and will be offered at a higher price.
The Core 2 Quad Q9550e with 2.83 GHz, 333 MHz FSB and 2 x 6,144 KiByte L2 cache will cost 369 US Dollar when at least 1,000 of them are purchased. The quad-core Q9400s with 2.66 GHz, 333 MHz FSB and 2 x 3,073 KiByte L2 cache will be sold for 320 US Dollar. The Intel Q8200s will only have 2 x 2,048 KiByte L2 cache, 2.33 GHz, 333 MHz FSB and will cost 245 US Dollar. According to Fudzilla the price of the Q8200 will drop from 193 to 183 US Dollar, however.
