Alleged specs of a Phenom II with two cores and 3.2 GHz sighted
It seems like AMD wants to extend the Phenom II X2 product array as the first information about a version with 3.2 GHz came up.
The Phenom II X2 555 has a shared 1MiByte L2 cache and a L3 cache that is 6 MiByte big. Although the processor is running at 3.2 GHz the TDP is specified with 80 watt, says Fudzilla.com. Official information about pricing and release date are not available yet, but it is estimated that the Phenom II X2 555 will hit the markets for about 80 Euros.
Since the new processor basically is a quad-core with two deactivated cores it might be possible to reactivate them again - this trick already worked with several of AMD's CPUs but it depends on the individual device.
