Intel: Cutting prices down to 50%
Released only yesterday, the price for Intel's Core 2 Duo E7200 is lowered as well as other CPUs get cheaper and new models are introduced.
From today the Core 2 Quad Q6700 and the Xeon X3230 are 50% percent off. Both 2.66 Gigahertz CPUs drop from $530 to $266. The Q6600 goes down to $224, about 16 percent off. Actually the processors are already sold well below the official prices.
Another nearly identical CPUs had their prices adjusted. The E6850 and the X3085 go from $266 down to $183 repective $188. The PentiumE series isn't getting away "unharmed". The E4600's price is lower about 15 percent to $113, the E2200 to $74 and a E2180 is available for $64.
The low-cost market is altered as well. The Celerons 550 and 560 have their prices reduced at about 20 percent to $86 respective $107. There are even lower priced CPUs: The Celeron 440 for $44 and the Cerleron 430 for $34.
But Intel isn't just lowering the prices, they also introduce new processors. Among the Core 2 Duo E7200, which is at just $133 (instead of $137) and the dual-core Celeron 1400 ($53), there is the Core 2 Duo E8300 which is interesting bcause of it's multiplier of 8.5.
