Intel Core i7-870: First details and benchmark results
The first benchmarks and test results of Intel's forthcoming Core i7-870 have been published.
Currently the Core i7-870 has not been officially released yet. Nevertheless there already are the first tests and benchmark results available. The forthcoming LGA 1566 processor is said to run at a frequency of 2.93 GHz. Furthermore the CPU offers 1,024 KiByte L2 cache as well as 8 MiByte L3 cache. The Chinese website pconline has reviewed the Corei7-870 and published test results. Accordingly the Core i7-870 is slightly faster than the Core i7-820 in games like Call of Duty: World at War, GTA 4 or Far Cry 2 as well as application benchmarks like Cinebench R10, Winrar and SuperPi. A screenshot of CPU-Z also shows the effect of the Turbo mode feature that increases the frequency of the Core i7-870 to 3,210 MHz. In our gallery you can find some of the benchmark results.
