Stars series: AMD's 45 nm CPU reaches 3.0 Gigahertz
As we reported recently, AMD's Deneb reached its limit at 3 GHz. Now there is rumor that it will exceed them.
AMD's up coming 45 nm Stars CPU, called Deneb, reaches, according to Fudzilla, more than 3.2 Gigahertz. this would imply Quad-Core running at a higher clock speed than an Athlon 64 X2 6400+ or Intel's current flagship, the Core 2 Extreme QX9770. AMD takes another step on the bumpy way back to performance leadership.
At the moment there are no numbers on how much faster or slower the K10.5 chip would be compared to an equally clocked competitior. But if Deneb hits the market in third or fourth quarter, it is within distanz to Intel's Nehalem - which is supposed to start with 3 GHz.
