AMD receives 1.2 billion US Dollar as aid money for new chip factory
It has been known for a while that AMD plans a new chip factory in the US state of New York. Now we learn about how much aid money the chip manufacturer will obtain.
The cost for the construction of the new production facility Fab4x, which is managed by the rather young The Foundry Company, will probably add up to 4.6 billion US Dollar. According to an announcement of the San Jose Business Journal, the state of New York will grant 1.2 billion US dollar aid money in the form of cash and tax allowances. Fab4x will provide 1,465 new jobs.
Before the final permit is granted a public hearing has to be held and the Public Authorities Control Board has to approve the money transfer.
