The test setup with the Intel Nehalem (picture: THW Taiwan)
The Nehalem is based on the Bloomfield core, its clock speed was set to 2.93 Gigahertz. In combination with the X58 motherboard, the Foxconn Renaissance, the processor was able to score almost 18,000 points in the CPU test of 3DMark Vantage. A QX9650 with 3.0 Gigahertz only gets about 12,000 points and even overclocked to 4 Gigahertz is stays below the 16,000 points. The Nehalem system reaches 5,183 points in the 3DMark 06 CPU test.
This matches prior results, which said Intel's Nehalem to be about 50 percent faster than a equally clocked Core 2 Quad.
