AMD: Shipment of 45 nanometer CPUs planned for fourth quarter
As xbitlabs.com reports, AMD is going to start volume shipments of 45 nanometer processors in the fourth quarter of 2008.
AMD: Volume shipments of 45 nanometer CPUs are said to start in Q4.
Dirk Meyer, AMD's president and COO, said production is going to start in summer and first volume shipments will be made in Q4. Thereby AMD would be about a year late, compared to Intel, who hit the markets with the QX 9650 in December 2007. This situation is similar to past occasions but AMD never had disatvantages since their products had better performance. But with Intel's superior CPU series it will be difficult to repeat this success.
Among the informations concerning the 45 nanometer CPUs, AMD announced the new server platform with the octa-core CPUs, codenamed Montreal, to be released in late 2009 or early 2010.
