AMDs contract manufacturer wants to start the production of 32 nm Wafers this year.
Doug Grose, CEO of the recently founded Globalfoundries said in an interview with Digitimes that the company wants to produce the first 32 nm CPUs in 2009. Therefore the factory in Dresden, Germany, known as Fab 30/38 is modified.
The first Bulk Wafers in 32 nanometers are supposed to be ready in late 2009. Globalfoundries wants to deliver up to 50,000 wafers per month. In Modul 1 (formerly known as Fab 36) the production is still set to 45 nanometers. According to the interview with digitimes the production will be switched to 22 nanometers in 2012.
