Bioshock 2: Visual Ups and Downs of the PC version
Bioshock 2 has finally been released and PC Games Hardware demonstrates the Tops and Flops of the graphics delivered by the Unreal Engine based action game.
Bioshock 2 is based on an enhanced version of the Unreal Engine 2. Given the Unreal Engine 3 and the games that utilize the possibilities of this new version of the structure - like Mass Effect 2 - Bioshock 2 looks surprisingly bad: All too often low-polygon objects with low-res textures lower the visual impression. This gets especially obvious on the opponents, which on the other hand have been equipped with well made animations. Another positive aspect is the atmospheric lighting and some detailed textures that have been covered with Shaders are looking really good. The real-time reflections in the water are also very impressive. The water itself is a double-edged sword: In some situations it looks great but in other spots it's just simple.
In our gallery we have assembled a collection of screenshots that demonstrate the Tops and Flops of the Bioshock 2 graphics.
