Phenom II: World Record in 3DMark 06 and CPU-Z - Video included
AMD's Phenom II is able to endure extreme cooling with liquid Nitrogen or even liquid Helium in order to receive higher overclocking results. This durability paid off once again.
The Phenom II for the socket AM3 has been overclocked to 6665.69 MHz and a CPU-Z validation of the result has been acquired. The extreme overclockers "SF3D”, "Sampsa” and "macci” already proved which frequencies the Phenom II can reach when cooled with liquid Helium. Their new result beat the old record for a Phenom II processor (6509.2 MHz) by about 150 MHz as the CPU-Z shot reveals. With 35,698 points the overclockers also reached a new record in 3DMark 06.
Their system is based on an Asus M4A79T Deluxe AM3 motherboard and two Radeon HD 4870 X2 graphics cards. The Phenom II CPU is cooled with liquid Nitrogen and the 4870 X2s are running on air cooling. There also is a video of the overclockers at work. The world records for 3DMark 06 can be found in Futuremarks's Online Result Browser.
