New information about Alan Wake: a lot less action than in Max Payne
It has been quite for a long time around Alan Wake. Developer Remedy didn't release much information which will be released some day. At the GDC some little details have been revealed nevertheless.
The Hype around Alan Wake still seems to be going on. Like it is the case with the Duke, every little piece of information causes mass hysteria. Now gamer.no was able to interview Oskari Hakkinen at the GDC and the Remedy producer revealed a few details.
Alan Wake is under development for five years now, but still publisher Microsoft sticks to the long term project. As it is expected the interview doesn't end in flood of information, but Hakkinnen is talking about ingame weather and lighting. He doesn't reveal how important the light will be though, but on most screenshots that have been revealed up to now, you can see Alan Wake with a torchlight. The game is said to get a full day/night cycle. Furthermore the weather simulation is supposed to play an important role. For example it will become more difficult to handle vehicles if you drive over snow covered streets. Hakkinnen mentions that such a concept is something completely new in games.
A small hint regarding the gameplay is given, too: Hakkinnen says that Alan Wake will have a lot less action than Max Payne, but more than Silent Hill. Alan Wake will also be more authentic than Silent Hill. The long time of development is not supposed to have a negative effect on the visual appearance and the game is said to be able to compete with graphical high-end titles when it is released.
In the gallery you can find all the screenshots of Alan Wake that have been released up to now.
